The book itself has been adapted many times into films. In this essay I will compare the use of camera shots, set design and musical score of the adaptation by Clayton and the adaptation by Lurhmann. In the story of The Great Gatsby, there are many characters and those characters have significant roles in both of the film versions. Gatsby is rich; lives in West Egg and throws big parties every weekend.
The two films are actually fascinating in contrast, and if anything each made me appreciated the other more. I had to watch the Gatsby in high school. And it does have its redeeming qualities, especially in comparison to the version. A guy with a vanity? Back in the day. Which was like, what, a month ago? This intro makes me think the story is the rambling of syphilitic mind.
