A long time ago. Back then, we all lived on the edge of the great forest. Even so, their father taught them the way of the woods, and their mother taught them how to. The child was called Margaret, which they shortened to Greta, and then to Gretel. Hansel and Gretel did not go to school, for the schools.
Next to a great forest there lived a poor woodcutter with his wife and his two children. The boy's name was Hansel and the girl's name was Gretel. He had but little to eat, and once, when a great famine came to the land, he could no longer provide even their daily bread. One evening as he was lying in bed worrying about his problems, he sighed and said to his wife, "What is to become of us? How can we feed our children when we have nothing for ourselves?
A poor woodcutter and his wife had two children named Hansel and Gretel. Their mother died when they were young. Hansel and Gretel were very sad. Soon their father remarried but their stepmother was very cruel. One day, she took the children deep into the forest and left them there. Clever Hansel had some breadcrumbs in his pocket and had dropped them on the way so that they could find their way back home. Hansel and Gretel went deeper and deeper into the forest.
