Alex and Eliza

Sign up for our newsletters! Eliza is the daughter of a wealthy colonial land owner, and Alexander is a poor orphan from the Caribbean. Unfortunately, the two do not reunite for another two years, until a chance meeting leaves Eliza falling head over heels for Alexander. The characters were incredibly relatable despite the fact that the story took place during colonial times, and it was very easy to keep reading. I also enjoyed the suspense that was added to the plot to provide more conflict. Towards the beginning of the book, there is not a whole lot of drama, but when Eliza goes to New Jersey, the plot begins to move incredibly quickly. During those parts, I found it incredibly hard to put the book down.

Through reviews, articles and discussions, we want to spark intellectual thought, spiritual growth and a desire to follow the command of Colossians "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. Just today I was reading Psalm 37 and thinking about how your ministry provides ways to 'dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Plugged In has become a significant compass for our family. All three of our kids are dedicated to their walk with Christ but they still encounter challenges. Thanks for all of your research and persistence in helping us navigate through stormy waters. It is her favorite movie and she wanted to show it in class.

It is set over the course of a few years during the American Revolution. I have to say, this was truly a great book. I am not typically the type to crave reading, but when I find a good read, it's hard for me to put it down. For being as interested in history as I am, I loved the way Cruz was able to tie in all of the very real events at the time. Now, I will say, I thought the first fifty pages or so were a little slow. However, this is simply because this is where Cruz provides a bulk of the information on what was going on in the revolution at the time, which is very important throughout the remainder of the novel.

  1. Parents need to know that Melissa de la Cruz's Alex & Eliza: A Love Story is a historical romance that speculates about the courtship of U.S. Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler. This was a really good historical type fiction book about the romance between.
